MUSEUM INDEX CAPTAIN QUARTERMASTER SAILING MASTER SURGEON

"The Armorer "

This was a specialized tradesman whose job it was to repair and maintain small arms, and other weapons used in close combat.

This was no easy task in the days before mass-production. There were many variations between weapons, and, to find a replacement part to fit a broken pistol or musket was often a painstaking task.

While we don’t know his name, we believe there was an armorer among these pirates by virtue of the discovery of an intact hemp bag filled with such spare parts.

To that end, we have included small arms, grenades, swords, and small-arms shot in this section of the online museum.
